The traditions of the past cannot be retrieved'  is a collection of five solo works Greg Kelley (known for his work in Nmperign, Heathen Shame, Cold Bleak Heat) recorded from 1997 to 2005 with his 4 track recorder. For those familar with his previous releases, here you' ll find some of those elements that make Greg a personal, surprising voice as a  musique concrete composer: drones, loops, sonic detritus and short gaps of silence alternated with magnificent abrasive moments. The first 4 tracks are a real peach in this sense. The last track '4 Piezos' is a 31 minute monolith which works as a 'second chapter' for the whole album: a long, huge piece for metal, piezo mics, bow, tape machine, collapsing in a shocking finale. Totally amazing. CDR released in an edition of  205 copies.
